At Dr. Bohrod’s Dental office, we are most serious about two things. One, keeping our patients mouth’s clean and free of disease. And two, keeping the office and operatories sanitized and free of germs. Keeping a healthy mouth, according to Prevention Magazine, helps prevent heart disease, and dementia, helps control blood sugar levels, prevents risk of respiratory infections and it could also help your fertility.
In order to insure cleanliness and the prevention of spreading diseases, we follow strict sanitization guidelines as recommended by Center for Disease Control (CDC). We use a three step sterilization program. The instruments are first scrubbed with a detergent, next they are soaked in a disinfectant and finally they are heat sterilized under pressure in an autoclave. All hand pieces are sterilized following each use. After each patient, all surfaces in the operatory are wiped with a bleach solution. We use a closed cassette to transport the instruments to prevent contamination and error. And finally all employees are required to undergo a rigorous infection control training program. It is imperative that we go through extra measures to keep our facilities clean because our patient’s health is our number one priority.
